It was certainly a unique finale. It wasn’t action focused and that is what made it special. After all the episode is titled "Nanashi and Mana" so it made sense that the finale was about them. And practically she was the one that stopped Nanashi.

Go back to episode 32 and look at that manga which Mana was reading.
Toei literally teased Nanashi’s parents and hid that fact from everybody.
