Kitaro’s age differs depends on each versions. up to 350 or more at max.
Yuta’s grandma is possiblly an homage to Nonnon Grandma, one of famous series by the same author. Torakichi, the last human child wondered into Gegege Forest is also based on a folklore which the author later wrote a comic about it.

Nezumi-Otoko(Rat Man) is a half-human Yokai, but it’s not really confirmed how. People assume his parents were a human and a Yokai, but since the author died three years ago, we may never know for sure. When he called Neko-Musume(Catchick) a "traitor", she was about to claw him because Rat Man is the one that always betrays them for money, and has no right to say that. cx
Generally, Kitaro has always appeared ~thirteen, but is actually 350 years old. We’ll see if they go over this again, but usually he has lived for over 100 years.
In Japan, legends of Yokai are commonly told to children in order to teach them respect and good behavior, or to just entertain them. In this adaption, children are living in the modern society with their technology, so not many will sit with their grandparents to hear stories about Yokai.
Yuta got an exclusive tour because he wandered into the GeGeGe Forest on his own, which is very rare. Since there are so many rules, it’s just a place that humans shouldn’t enter, so Kitaro and the others are unlikely to invite Mana over for a party unless she actually gets there without their help.
Yama-Jijii (Mountain Geezer) is a mountain Yokai. He’s like an old man living in the mountains, and he just wants kids to stop stealing his property and get off his lawn! The "x" mark he put on Yuta’s hand was a warning to never do what he did again.
In the 2007 version, the area around Kitaro’s house was virtually dead, and there was a place called Yokai Yokocho (Yokai Alley) where the Yokai lived and had shops, too. There was a GeGeGe Forest, but nothing as great as this one. This forest is so vast and green, it’s absolutely beautiful. <3
I’m really loving this adaption, it’s doing so many things right. Another great reaction, I’m looking forward to see what you think about the next episode, as that one had many people [shocked] at what happened, especially for a "Rated G Children’s Show."
