Just as you said, no matters what happens next week I’m fine with any outcome. I just think that there is a good chance that this anime will surprise us by letting Yuri die instead of Joe. He might say the same words as Joe from Ashita No Joe. His final words might go to Yukiko before he dies. Just my prediction to next weeks episode. I can’t wait I’m so excited, I just hope the animation will be really good next episode. this anime deserves anime of the year in my opinion!

Why would Joe die tho, because of the "Not dead yet" after every ep ? I mean he lived through a punch from a heavy weight figher with Gear last episode, so i don´t see him dying at all in the last fight.

There were so many parts in this episode that simply made me happy. Not only is this a feat on its own, but the fact that it perfectly contrasted with the chilling scene of Yuri screaming in pure agony, and his talk with Shirato afterwards. I think this is legitimately my favorite episode of the series, and the fact that I keep uttering that phrase every week just shows how much of a gem this show is

I’m taking this from reddit (so no credit to me) but this is super interesting and had to share:
“For those who don’t know, in the original Ashita no Joe, Tooru Rikiishi was of a higher weight class compared to Joe, so he had to drastically lose weight to be able to fight him on the ring. In Megalo Box Yuri similarly handicaps himself by having his Gear removed because he wants to fight Joe on equal ground.
The scene with Yuri screaming in pain parallels a very similar scene in the original AnJ with Rikiishi almost going crazy because of dehydration”
