As someone who grew up with this version of Dbz, I will say with no hesitation, I am not in the least bit interested in getting this item. Yes I enjoyed the ocean dub, when I was kid, but it just isn’t the series for me. I will always remember the dub for being the gateway for me to discover Dragonball, but it just isn’t my definitive way to watch the series. Lastly, to all the nostalgiafags that call Kai "kiddy", you’re really going to tell this was more mature? Your opinion, but be reasonable

I do feel that Kai is the best version of the series. However, I HAD to get this for nostalgia’s sake (plus I’ve never owned any of the Ocean dub sets, so this was a good way for me to get them all).

Why do people think FUNimation had to buy the rights to this particular dub? This is the first FUNi dub. They just had a third party company do the voices, but this has always been a FUNi dub.

Then again, if you compare The Room to Click on a comedic standpoint, The Room is vastly superior. Almost painfully.

Well dbz DBZ Kai is like the rest of the shows on nicktoons that they made "come out again" it’s not close to the awesomeness that the original showed but its good for the new generation but how they did GT before Buu saga was kinda dumb but the voices are better then the ones in the first few episodes of dbz

I would advise getting this for nostalgic purposes only, otherwise stick with the remastered if you want the uncut version.

Well when you put it this way, they have similar pacing in speech, and the yelling is similar. While they may not be the same in terms of dialogue everything else is shared. So I guess I see what you mean.

The only thing I liked about that broadcast was the intro song, other than that, Funimation dub all the way.

what’s the difference between this and the remastered edition (not kai, just the original DBZ but it says remastered edition) I was wondering why it didn’t have the epic rock the dragon opening which ticked me off a little bit but episode wise whats the difference?

It was dubbed by Ocean instead of Funimation. The episodes were edited down to a TV-Y7 rating, taking out the swearing, blood and even cutting out some scenes.

We need a New Dragon Ball Z anime set during Bardock’s time were we get to see what Sayian life was like under friza’s rule, Also we should be able to how Bardock ad Gok’s mother meet and when Raditz was born maybe even have a saga showing how Frieza took over planet vegeta and another saga showing how the Sayian -Tuffle War

Ocean dub was always the best. My reason? Because the voice actors at the time gave the characters life. In the beginning Funimation clearly tried to imitate that, when they first made there debut. However I respect both companies, after all if it weren’t for Funimation, we probably wouldn’t see another day of DBZ, mind you the anime craze at the time.

Not true. It’s only censored on Nicktoons. Not the dvd releases… -_-
