i grew up with dragon ball z and i hated that movie. Vegeta somehow completely changed his Charakter, the fighting scenes weren’t as epic as you would expect in a dragon ball z movie, the side Plot was so unnessesary….
but the worst of all was the ending. all throughout the film you ask yourself how goku will manage to kill this ugly cat that is so stupidly overpowered. and in the end goku just gives up…. wow fkn epic ending…

I recently read an article on how beer was one of, if not the most important product in ancient Egypt. People traded goods for beer, it had a huge importance in ceremonies and festival in honor of their gods, and children drank beer along with adults every day. They used beer in the way we use water (which makes sense since water from the Nile was to filthy to drink). And here we have Beerus, a god with an Egyptian design. Toriyama really did his homework here.

I loved the humor and the different characters. Beerus was hilarious. BUT the movie plot was bullshit, it felt like a very long filler episode.

Vegeta had the two best bits, I cried with laughter at his dance and with frisson during the best bit of the film, I still tear up when I think of him calling Bulma ‘my Bulma’ it was his most emotional scene ever.

I just gotta say, in this video you say that if you aren’t a fan of DBZ at all, you shouldn’t watch this. Well this was my first ever exposure to Dragon Ball. I bought this movie on impulse. I was like "You know what, I’ve never seen DBZ, I don’t get all the hype, but this movie was apparently great, so why the hell not". And I loved it. This movie got me into Dragon Ball. I know it’s basically diving in at the deep end, and there *was* a lot that I didn’t understand at first. But I loved this movie so much that I went back at watch all of the original Dragon Ball Z series, and this movie has only gotten slightly more enjoyable for me. I say ‘slightly’, because I can honestly say that most of my enjoyment with this movie stems form the parts of the movie that require no background knowledge at all, and the parts of the movie that introduce new elements to the DBZ universe. So stuff like the fights, the way characters interact, the humour, Beerus and Whis. That’s what I enjoy most about this movie. I don’t feel like knowing the backstory to Majin Buu, or seeing the battle on Namek really made much of a difference in how I viewed this movie.
This movie takes place in a time that is just far enough removed from the DBZ series itself that I think anybody can watch it and enjoy it, even if they know none of the characters other than Goku going in. The most confusing thing for me at first was questions like "Who is this large green man? And isn’t that pink guy supposed to be a villain? And I’m sure I’ve seen a picture Trunks before, but he was way older, so why is he a child?".
To sum it up, I don’t think you should turn people away from this movie. It’s a solid movie that can be enjoyed enough on a blind viewing with next to no DBZ knowledge at all. And if this movie can get me into Dragon Ball so much that I’m currently up to date with Dragon Ball Super, and playing the games, then I think this movie is definitely worth the recommendation. Though I’d only recommend it if you’re the type of person who doesn’t get easily lost in a story.

i have to say that while i like the new super series, it just felt kooky at first. like they were over trying in their effort to make GT go away. when i watched gt years ago i had no idea it wasn’t cannon or written by the creator of DB and i though it was great. it was just silly that in the first few episodes all the sayans hold hands and make goku a god? i just think his progression to that power level should have made more sense and not seem like a lazy plot device.

I am an anime fan I love anime so much but I’m not a fan of Dragonball / Dragonball Z I mean my first anime that I ever watched when I was little if you don’t count Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh, BeyBlade, or Digimon my first real anime was Naruto but anyway I respect it a lot as Chris said it introduced Anime over to American and got many people into anime and its very well know and I did watch this movie and before you people yell at me because I have not read the manga or watched the anime I have friends that do watch it and I have heard them talking about it and I know more about it than the average person and I did enjoy the movie even tho I have never seen the anime and this is just like my sister and fairy tale I don’t watch it but she talks about it so much that I know the names of 7 of the characters and also there powers and some of the plot of the show same thing goes for DBZ so I don’t watch DBZ but I respect it.

The first dragon ball show I saw was GT. I’d only seen a few episodes of DB or DBZ when I watched DB:evolutionary-dead-end.
If it was a stand alone kung fu B movie, it might be ok, but they basically bludgeoned the franchise and presented us with its battered almost-dead body.
