Once again I watched Mononoke recently (I watched it a lot around 12 years ago) so good timing. However this time I think your analysis is complete enough that I have nothing to add.
Good work!

I respect Monoke on a technical level but I think its kind of boring but worth watching

You should go into the folklore sometime such as the gods. Oh and have you seen Snow White and the Huntsman? Because they copied the deer god and the tree and kotodamas to the details! I was soooooooo mad.

Everyone’s got their own opinion, but I think Miyazaki was at the peak of his powers with this film.

This anime is consistently one of the best value for money deals on Amazon.ca . It’s usually less than $10.00 and can be had on sale for $5.00. It was the gateway movie that drew me to anime.

Interesting video, so here’s some extra food for thought:
Though never directly stated in the movie it is heavily hinted that Ashitaka is of the Ainu people, the ancient inhabitants of Japan before the settlement of the Wajins from China, hence why his tribe is so different from the rest of the characters and are more in-tune with nature…or so I’ve heard.

Why does the soup hint that the monk is a ‘bad guy’?
