the time limit in japanese was 4:44 seconds to control the actions(i think anyway) 4 being shi in japanese which doubles as the word for death. similarly it was 44 seconds until the death happened(again not 100% sure)
in the english 6 minutes and 40 seconds, and 40 seconds. the former being 6.66 minutes, and the latter being .666 minutes.
the time limits in japan are representative of death since it’s the tool of a shinigami, the english version localized them to represent the number of the beast.j
EDIT: so the first part was something a friend told me, but googling has given me no references that support the original japanese text was different. in which case it may have just been the presence of 4 in 40 seconds, and 400 seconds that had the significance in japanese.

About those specific time limits:
1. 40 seconds is 2/3 of a minute or .666 minutes
2. 6 minutes and 40 seconds is 6.666 minutes
3. The number 4 in Japanese sounds really similar to the Japanese word for "Death" so it’s considered an evil/unlucky number

What I found so funny about this whole episode is that light decided to kill this guy. While I’m aware that light didn’t know at that point that he was almost cleared of suspicion, imagine if he just waited one more day. Then that would be the end of Death Note. Light wins! After all if he got cleared of suspicion here then Raye’s fiancé wouldn’t die and L wouldn’t get suspicious of light. The end? ?

I do like your reactions but if i didnt know most of the animes you are watching , there would be moments where i am confused. Sometimes you tend to cut important scenes out or short. Like for example that i didnt even notice that Yagami Light denied the Deal since it was a 1 sec clip where you also were talking. I noticed that this has happened in like 3-4 videos i watched now and thought I would mention it. Else i really like your content.

Man, I’m sick of hearing people complain about how a "terrible" protagonist ruins a part of a show because you "can’t root for him". That’s somehow ingrained in the brains of western audiences due to comic superheroes and all that. It’s NOT necessary to have a good guy as a protagonist… in fact it’s much more interesting to have a character that is truly human – with clear flaws and their own morals and sense of justice.

I like both Light and L as characters, I like how they’re both sides of the same coin. Some people like Light and hate L and vice versa but I think they’re both really well-written characters.

The thing is with Death Note you’re not really meant to "root" for Light, that’s not really the point of the show. There isn’t really a definitive good or bad in this show cause even if you don’t agree with what the characters are doing you still understand where they’re coming from, either way it doesn’t matter whether you’re on Light’s side or L’s side or maybe you’re like Ryuk and you’re just there for the fun. Keep in mind that a character being a protagonist does not mean that you’re automatically meant too root for them or be on their side, that’s why they’re called *protagonists.* A protagonist simply means the point of view you’re looking from.

When a shinigami kills a human they get ALL of their remaining life, the eye deal gives them half.

Whan a Shinigami kills a human, they get *all* the time that the human would have lived. When a Shinigami trades for the eyes, *then* they get only half of the human’s lifespan.
The author of the manga had a formula that could convert Shinigami time into human time, but then he lost it, so now nobody knows what the numbers mean.
In Japanese, the word for "four" is pronounced the same as "death", hence why four is used a lot in the time limits (six minutes and forty seconds is four hundred seconds) as sort of a pun.
