Light chose Mikami too well. It might have worked out if Mello wasn’t constantly doing the dirty deeds necessary for Mr. Clean-Hands to win (it was even acknowledged how Light would have won were it not for Near having help). The situation with Takeda proved his undoing. He did the best he could with the cards dealt, but his luck (which he had plenty of as you well know) ran out.

Amusing though it is to have a villain protagonist, I don’t care for traitors. Nor fools (his dream would crash upon his death as an eventuality **there was no chance there would always be someone to curb the behavior of people as a ‘god’**).

NOTE: He knew from the start the personality of Ryuk (different from the other Shinigami). He wasn’t about to become his loyal friend, to love him or any of that. It was just entertainment. The game was finished (he wasn’t getting away for long **least of all in that condition…desperate delusion being all he had left**), so he opted out of skipping a boring process taking up possibly years of time (with no real chance of a comeback).

The MC is to be spit upon for who he is and what he has done. You’ve got it all mixed up. His betrayals are many. To blindly praise the MC (just for the sake of ‘winning’) is a questionable approach. I’m reminded of Goku fans (often not even knowing his true nature **if they do, they excuse it to high Hell**). Such misplaced adoration.

No, he stopped him from doing some killing (that likely still wouldn’t prove enough to save him). Wounding Kira as he did only made him less effective in the attempt to run away (besides the prevention of someone’s death **likely "Nate River"**). With the space he had on his watch paper, he wasn’t going to get much bang for his buck here (couldn’t just write them into killing each other for him).
NOTE: I wonder if Misa did a flip over the edge of the building. Rather, how many flips she did. I hope she was able to break a record before the ground broke her.
At any rate, the manga goes beyond this (aside from a difference or so **a fair few, as it happens, so if you wish to know the canon, you will have to read up). If you haven’t read it already, know that another Shinigami turns up (having bribed their kind with apples, he was able to get another notebook to drop) and creates another Kira (Near is disgusted by the cheap copy **refers to it as C-Kira** who targets elderly and such who wish to die). Ryuk was rewarded (three apples) for providing the rotten world of the ‘death gods’ with entertainment (I’m sure you’re pleased to hear that). Foolish youth also ask to die on a broadcast (and are obliged). The new Kira seems to be a male NEET otaku (and has been feeding his Shinigami bananas). And he kills himself via the notebook after L addressed him as scum beneath his attention.

Light just did it for the power. You can actually tell he gets a rush out of killing people. You may agree with what he did (which I strongly disagree with), but it is clear to see that Light is narcissistic, delusional, and self-righteous.

lol I get "enjoying" Light’s character, but to actually root for him in the end? Dude, the point of the show was to tell the story of how Light Yagami increasingly became corrupted by the power of the Death Note. By the end, he no longer deserved to live. He had an idealistic view of the world, and he wanted to force that view on everybody else. If you disagree with him, he’s the type who would write your name down in the Death Note _just because_ you disagree with him. He has no moral code; he no longer has it because he legit thinks he’s become "god." That’s not the kind of person you want to keep around. His overall arc was heartbreaking, don’t get me wrong, and it was absolutely sad when they reminded us at the very end what Light used to be, a normal teenager doing well at school living a normal life; such stark contrast of who he ended up becoming, all because he picked up that Death Note. It was heartbreaking what ultimately happened to him, but at the same time it was well-deserved. I can’t believe you actually wanted him to survive.

It is the mentality of PEOPLE that they want the CRIMINALS DEAD. Perhaps that’s why the WRITER thought of killing LIGHT in the end. Though, i think even WRITER of the series would have want LIGHT alive at the end of the series if not for People. 🙂

Light surpassed L as he had all the help from the beginning with Misa, her eyes, inside information with his father, notebooks and SHINIGAMIS. L was always superior to him and when his help arrived as Near and Mellow there was no chance Light could survive.

The meaning of : the owner of the death note won’t go to the heaven or to the hell .. is that light will became also a Shinigami like Ryuk and other Gods of death .. there is a scene shows this fact .. Ryuk was sitting bored as always and the other shinigami were playing .. so a new god of death appears and give to ryuk an apple .. Ryuk was surprised cause he knew just one person who was giving him apples .. Yes it was light .. Light became a Shinigami and this is its meaning

Why would anybody want light to win? I just don’t get it, he obviously the one in the wrong. Because hes the MC? Because he kills villains? Lights intelligent but morally screwed up. He has no right to judge anyone. Look how little he cared about his own dad dying. He literally twists everything around, because he thinks he like a god of justice.
