In anime, eyes without reflection, or "whites" as some call it, symbolically represent lifelessness or "deadness". They belong to characters that are emotionless, insane, or broken in some way. But I love characters who eyes are drawn that way. Normal eyes tend to reflect the light that they see. In a way, they are showing off light that is not their own. But characters with dull or deluded eyes, it’s like they’re true to who they are. There is no light to reflect back at you, nothing to distract you from the truth.
