I really loved this anime. And I loved how it ended. I love that they put who won all the way at the very end because for Joe it was never about winning or losing. It was about fighting yuri. Same for yuri. It wasn’t about winning or losing they just wanted to fight eachother. Good anime overall 🙂

Also I don’t know how you interpreted the scene of the scorpion looking over Joe while he was dancing but I took it as Nanbu always having Joe’s back no matter what , that was brilliant.

Honestly I do understand the dislike of the ending and to me personally I would have been alot happier if the put in just 30 seconds of the fights last hit. With that said even with that part out, after seeing the last title shot saying "7 wins 0 losses" was plenty for me to appreciate the ending and would easily put this on any "Best Anime of 2018" list. Spring season this year was filled with amazing shows and winter had plenty of good ones too. Summer and Fall better keep this awesome year rolling

I like how they mentioned the winner at the end like an afterthought, it really underlines that the dynamic between Yuri and Joe changed from champion vs challenger to two equals respecting each other and accepting themselves in the end.
Anyway most of the complaints I’m seeing are coming from people expecting Joe to die or for this to be the next Hajime no Ippo. 1) This isn’t a rehash of Ashita no Joe, why do they have to copy everything Ashita no Joe did? and 2) This was an underdog story that uses boxing as the catalyst for characters to face their inner demons, Hajime no Ippo is primarily a boxing show about technique and special moves and is enriched by character motivations. Both try to tell a different story and were good at what they do. It’s so dumb to put down one by comparing it to the other.

i like how yuri took his gear off to i guess nerf him and to level the playing field but i also don’t like that he took it off because that means he probably would’ve won with the gear.

You know Megalo box is interesting, its promotional material like the main cover art shows that joe is using gear but for the majority of the show he goes without it. When you get to the final fight they do a different ended compared to the original ashita no joe.
In a way what they did was really interesting! Even when that scene where joe gets a advanced megalo gear you’d expect him to start using that in the show but it breaks at the end of the episode. In a way lots of fake outs were done in the show. You’d expect one thing to only do the opposite. It’s an interesting way to do things.

Fantistic Video, fantastic show. A lot of people seem to be upset with the ending but I think they should all watch this. I think you do a fantastic job of shedding light onto the overarching idea of the story rather than just the one boxing match. Definitley (one of) my favorite show.
