Both series have MANY voice actors in common. Additionally, Kiyoshi Hikawa sings the OP song for Kitaro, too.

I dunno if its because of Mana but damn Kitaro has let himself go, he’s a lot more powerful in the 2007 version. Anyways, about how they beat the big enemy guy by saying a that sentence, it actually makes sense if you are japanese. Imagine that sentence is to him, how garlic and sunlight is to vampires.Basically all of the youkai characters are based on the actual youkai folktales and myths. A lot of these youkai actually have some very weird or "lame" weaknesses and traits but i guess its okay since the studio is somehow sticking to some traits of the original folktales so we can learn a bit on some cool and weird japanese ghost and monsters from the old days.

Btw that C idol, D idol and A idol thing is not by alphabet. Its by battery type since the group is called "the batteries" The A idol was actually triple-A idol as in like the battery.

By the way, can somebody tell me why almost all yokais have translated names? In japanese, Catchick is Neko-Musume, Ratman is Nezumi-Otoko, Daddy Eyeball is Medama-Oyaji and Wally Wall is Nurikabe. Nurikabe is a yokai-type in japanese folklore so why Wally Wall? I just prefer the original names.

In case you didn’t know, Gegege no Kitaro has an anime adaption every 10 years, this is the sixth series. So character relations are already established in the previous series.

Cat chick (or Neko Musume), is a half human half yokai and has a crush on Kitaro. In the previous series, she was the same height as Kitaro

Rat man (or Nezumi Otoko), is also a half human half yokai. He is friends with Kitaro, but is prone to betraying his friends for money. As a rat, he does’t get along with Neko Musume.

Also, many yokai have strange ways of being dispelled. So the whole saying his name thing is a probable thing to happen. Heck sometimes, to defeat a yokai, all you have to do is not answer it’s question. I know, it’s weird, but…Erm…keep in mind….
