Say, Atticus. How many South Park moments did you catch throughout all the FLCL episodes?

My favorite part about this anime is the soundtrack/ost and atmosphere/feel to go with it (the animation style is nice too). Probably partly because I saw it a decade ago (why I like it so much and it gets to me).
Story/Plot? Meh.

This show has complicated dialogue, but it makes sense. Not much direct dialogue makes it confusing if you get lost somewhere.

October 25, 2018 @ 5:58 am
This is one of those shows where you catch something new each time you watch it. It’s kinda nuts and the animators just did lots of stuff because they wanted to but there is kind of a story about growing up and letting things go in there or not being afraid of new things and taking risks.

Such good timing with this one as it was recently announced that they will be making more episodes of FLCL.
Edit:
I never noticed this but… that scene at 1:26:30, it’s a parody of Lupin the Third…. and again at 1:29:20

I like the way this series ends. while she leaves, there is the implication that they may meet again, which I suspect will be what happens in the next season, which has apparently been announced already.

What makes this a commentary if you aren’t commenting on the show at hand?

This is a anime that needs watched a few times. Later parts of the show will hint to early parts of it. Thus forming very fragile links of context. Overall, it has a meaning…and is also just packed with a ton of the things the director just enjoyed. It’s really a art anime in all honesty.

I expect most of the commentary to be a remark about the creators being either stoned or high.

This was made for the characters emoting through dialogue that’s why there’s little exposition
Red Sparrow
October 25, 2018 @ 6:42 am
The core plot, though it’s secondary to the puberty metaphors, is basically that Haruka turns Naota’s head into an "N.O. Channel" that can be used to summon objects from across the galaxy, in an attempt to summon the space pirate Atomsk so that she can fuse with him and obtain his power. However, the mysterious intergalactic corporation Medical Mechanica also starts using his head to summon pieces of a terminal core (the various robots) to activate the dormant factory in the town, which will terraform/enslave Earth.
