If you ever wanna revisit the manga, this would be. They cut a TON of good scenes to make the anime feel more fast paced (seasons 1-2 have been 99% faithful) for these first 2 episodes. It takes a lot more time for the scouts to realize that the government that they work for is out to destroy them, and to decide that they’ll protect Eren & Historia and turn rogue. So it’s recommended reading because you get:
– More Hanji experiments with Eren (obviously they’d try to test his limits after his power-up last season)
– More Levi & Hanji searching for allies
– More Reeves time and explaining his motives
– More Pixis
– Armin’s trauma from being molested specifically mentioned, in a very funny scene
– Tons more Historia character building

Ngl it’s hard to tell by the accent, but the last name Reiss I think is being pronounced Reece rather than Rice.
See, Reiss is my last name and depending on which country I’m in we change the pronunciation
In Scotland, Germany, Austria and other German speaking countries we say Reece.
Everywhere else we say Rice

The Interior Police are ABOVE the Military Police, Kenny’s squad is an elite squad WITHIN the Interior Police, these are the enforcers who do the dirtiest and most secretive state security missions, and report directly to the King’s Cabinet Council.

Obligatory it happened differently in the manga, but this is only to those that are curious about the original source. Anime version is still good. NO future manga spoilers:
Timeline is different here and last episode:
-After they left the cabin, they were able to "lure" the kidnappers with Armin and Jean, as seen in last episode. Levi is included in the fight and they capture Reeves.
-Historia and Eren are hiding out in another cabin waiting for the squad to return. That’s where they have the talk that they had in the kitchen (sans kitchen)
-Levi agrees to "give" Reeves Historia and Eren under the condition he works with the SC and gives them black tea provisions when it’s all said and done. Reeves agrees and captures Sannes and his crew.
-Levi and Hange torture Sannes as seen. Eren and Historia are back with the group.
-Historia finds out there that she is true royalty. The throne and truth is her right.
-Historia refuses the offer at first, not wanting to rule when she doesn’t believe in herself. Levi basically threatens her to do it for the sake of humanity. She reluctantly agrees.
-Reeves plans a fake kidnapping so they lure the Central Military Police (they are a specific branch of MPs that are NOT the same lazy MPs we’ve known so far). Eren has hidden blades in case of danger.
-Reeves says Levi is violent but a good guy but encourages Historia to punch Levi when/if she becomes queen.
-Reeves and Kenny converse, but Kenny sees through the plan and kills Reeves, Historia and Eren get kidnapped for real.
-Some day or two passes, and the squad finds out there is a funeral cart that they suspect has E+H to be transported to wherever Rod is.
-They follow the cart, with Hange’s Squad under Levi’s command (Hange isn’t with them) and his squad a distance away.
-Kenny finds them and the whole first half of this episode happens, except part of the time they are on horses and they aren’t chasing a cart with E+H, just a cart that Armin has as their mode of transport and hideaway. Armin shoots the MP. Ultimately they fight for their lives and lose E+H and hide in a barn to recover. (For you Levi fangasms, yes he gets shirtless). Mikasa doesn’t throw a fit about it, actually, and completely obeys orders to retreat.
-Eren and Historia are transported in coffins and that’s when Rod Reiss hugs Historia. Eren is pretty awake for this.
-Basically whatever happens the rest of the season occurs in the same order.
Isayama suggested a change in events partially to get rid of some inconsistencies and confusing motives, as well as time constraint (the arc is longer than the anime). Sadly it got rid of the Historia and Eren bonding which gives more impact in future moments, Jean (and Sasha and Connie) doubting Levi for days due to his treatment of Historia and Mikasa basically saying that despite his harshness that she trusts his judgement and that they all have to decide whether to follow him or not in the moment, more time to get to know Reeves as a character which makes his death a little more tragic, etc.
BUT we all know adaptations change a lot and fortunately this is about as different as it gets. From here onward the rest of the season, there are some changes ofc, but there aren’t any plot-shattering differences and most events of the story remain intact. Which is great because it’s about to get REALLY good.

@12:07 this scene is connected to Episode 5 Season 1. you can also search the video on youtube the title is Armin tells Eren about Outside World. One liner that almost everybody didnt pay attention to.
probably armin parents is researcher or scientist hence why armin is so smart, they probably make an ‘invention’ just to be shot down by Interior Police.

Man they really breeze through like two volumes like it’s nothing in these episodes. I don’t mind the anime version but manga Uprising is just another level. Wish they had more episodes to work with rather than just 12.
