Anime Zone: FLCL (Fooly Cooly) Anime Review
Almost done now re-uploading now. My most recent review so far, I had the idea for this review for ages and had been working on the script ever since before my “break”, though I was never happy with it so its been re-written more times than I care to remember. The final review seems alright though, since it seems like a lot of you have been waiting for me to re-upload this review so I guess it turned out better than I thought it would.
Ironic because this Re-written final script was done when I was simultaneously working on the Top 20 coolest characters list…so I had spent less time on this final version than any other version.
I went in to FLCL not really know what to expect, and I came out not really knowing what to think. The first time I watched it I was unsure whether I even liked it or not, I was thinking “ok that it was cool and funny but WHAT THE HELL DID I JUST WATCH?!” but after several more viewings it grew on me more. Anyway I know a few have been waiting for this review so here it is, FLCL.

I remember seeing glimpses of it back in summer of 03…I recently just watched it fully…and man I love it…that nostalgic feeling that makes you think of middle school and early high school days.can’t wait for the new seasons in 2018

For everyone suffering from FLCL withdrawal, you have two alternatives: Kyousou Giga (2013 version) or Diebuster (directed by the same Tsurumaki Kazuya who directed FLCL too). Though you should know Diebuster is a 6 episode sequel to Gunbuster, while Kyousou Giga is a standalone 10 episode series.
There are other anime that could quench that thirst, but these two are the closest to it. And they are both equally amazing.

The Pillows = Pixies + Oasis
Fantastic explanation of their sound. After watching FLCL, The Pillow have become one of my favorite band (I also love Pixies and Oasis).
Best part of FLCL is that melancholy feel with the extra added anime crazy.

I am in the ‘meh’ crowd. I didn’t find it super funny, but I liked the action scenes. I think it was the sheer illogicalness of everyone and everything thqat kind of grated on me a bit. Just my thoughts

If you like this anime, try Diebuster (gunbuster 2).
It’s another OVA series by the same director with the same non-sensical story structure. It lacks the soundtrack of FLCL, but the mecha fights in the last three episodes get EPIC. I can’t find anything to directly support this, but I think the key animators who did those scenes would work on Gurren Lagann three years later if that gives you an idea of just how ridiculous the fights get.

I was a TV boy. Watching the anime that my country television chanels authorized. But one day I watched an AMV made whith that anime’s footage, and I was converted that day. I became an anime fan. And I still don’t frigging know what the heck was going on that show.

Flcl looks like avatar the last airbender….anyone notices that? I mean just look at how much naota resembles aang(that face)! In fact, the animators were probably forced to buy each and every episode of flcl! If watching a masterpiece is wut it takes to make a masterpiece, I get it. Flcl is a masterpiece.

I went through really difficult competition which totaly ruin my brain and decided to relax with some anime. It was FLCL. I actually got craziness after I had watched it, and it was great! And this anime really can blow your mind if you will smoke weed before watching.

When i watched this show for the first time i was also 12 and loved it. I still love this show after rewatching it many times but im sure part of the reason i like it so much is due to nostalgic reasons. This show to me was an emotional rollercoaster that is very reminiscent of what it actually feels to be at that age or when ever kids transition into adolescence any ways. To me it is a visual representation of a preteens emotions and feelings.

I really wanted to give this show a try after watching Agent Paranoia(not worth it after the fisrt 5 eps) but I couldn’t quite get thru the first episode…this whole dementia genre is just not my thing..but I’ll check out the soundtrack one day.
