This anime is Ashita no Joe 50th anniversary project but it’s an anime original with none of the staff or manga creators. Ashita no Joe ran from 1968 till 1973 and the writer Ikki Kajiwara has sadly passed away in 1987. Think of this anime as a spiritual successor to it.
