Americans in the entertainment business sure love to screw around with something they still dont understand that what they have in their possession isnt a "cartoon" but a deep, complex, original master piece. Anime screwed by Americans: DBZ, Sailormoon, Robotech, Evangelion and a watered down Dragonball and Card Captor Sakura.

Some more:
– The original title of the film was "Ashitaka Sekki" before changed to "Mononoke Hime"
– Miyazaki intended Ashitaka and San to not live together in the end until Toshio Suzuki changed his mind.
– Yakkul first appeared in Miyazaki’s first manga which he made on the 70s called "Shuna no Tabi", which is inspired by a Tibetan folktale. Yakkul appeared as a faithful ride and an important character, much like in Mononoke.
– A bit more on "Shuna no Tabi". Miyazaki seemed to draw a lot of Shuna into Ashitaka. Shuna is a prince who went out from his impoverished, on-the-periphery-of-civilization kingdom to find a golden seed to return his kingdom to glory. In the end of his quest, he went back to his kingdom, but the reader never knew if he reached it or not.
– Miyazaki probably begun working on Princess Mononoke after finishing his second manga, Nausicaä of the Valley of Wind, which took 12 years to complete, from 1982 to 1994.
I’m sure there’s more, but I forgot.

"Hi, I’m a mother wolf. Do you want to party?" I lost it there.
I’m pretty sure this was my first Ghibli film, and Kiki’s came shortly after. I remember sneaking this into our checkout stack at Blockbuster, because I was definitely younger than 13. It’s not for every young kid, that’s for sure. However, I was watching X-Files at an inappropriately young age, and hearing Gillian was in the dub was why I grabbed this in the first place. While I’m thankful I did, it depends on the kid watching it.

If a Japanese person sent me a katana, no matter the reason, I would be angry only if the katana was an imitation!
In fact, it would still be a rad decoration piece, so I’d not be angry at all.
