Onoki isn’t Naruto, and he never has been. You can’t expect everyone in the Naruto world to completely agree with everything Naruto and the new leaders say, just like the advisors for the 3rd Hokage, and the 5th Hokage. He isn’t a bad person, he’s just old, and can’t fight, or protect the people he loves anymore. Of course he would do something like this, he’s reaching the end of his life after losing so many people he loves and cares about. He doesn’t want that for the next generation, so he takes drastic measures. He grieves for those he has hurt during this, but focuses on the big picture, and it’s already done, so there’s no point in dwelling on what has been done already, and can’t be undone. I predict that Onoki will die after this, but merely of old age. After once again being reassured that the ninja world will go on just fine without him.

Boruto gets plot armor again in the new episode smh. He’s supposed to find his "heart stone" to get out of the training barrier place but conveniently someone else is their that finds their stone and follows him to get out of their. The challenges Boruto face are so freaking easy and/or the writing helps him to not face anything….. but apparently he’s getting stronger and stronger smh
