So why is first place worth _that_ much? I get it, the pressure of being #1 and all that, but such a ridiculous score almost suggests #1 is God or something. All-Might isn’t 10 million times greater than Endeavor, #1 is never _that_ much greater than #2, so why 10 million? Why not just a million, or even a few thousand? It’s absurd.

I thougt the idea was that you weren’t supposed to ‘jump off your horse’ by yourself. If you fell down by accident or were pushed down by somebody else that wasn’t a problem … not that that was ever important ^^

Yeah. Endeavor in this arc looks like a monster because he kinda is one. But he is one of the deepest characters in MHA and my favorite character of them all.

I never thought it was unbalanced. You don’t need 1 million points to go to the next round. So it doesn’t really matter. The million is just a guarantee that you move on to the next round.

I have watched this Anime in the sub, the dub, every BW reaction of it at least thrice and the full length reactions starting season 2 and i still have only NOW noticed that Hagakure (Invisigirl) is actually going topless for this round (explaining her teammates faces at 06:38) and i find it weird, yet hilarious. 😀

The Cavalry Battle (Kibasen) is a staple in Japanese school sports festivals. Foreign audiences may not know it, unless you watch a lot of anime and j-dramas that are set in school. I sort of understand the rules having watched/read a lot of anime/manga, but I think the crew had difficulty wrapping their heads around the game because it’s not something they’ve seen before.
Kibasen is normally played with groups of four (3-4 for MHA), consisting of 3 students linked by their hands to act as the "horse", and 1 student to act as their "rider" (e.g. Bakugo, Deku, Todoroki). The rider carries either a flag or something that represents them staying in the game. In this case, it’s a bandanna. When the bandanna is stolen or removed from the rider then their team automatically loses and must leave the game. The game ends when only 1 team is left. For MHA, they added a points system to help determine who would advance to the round-robin tournament.
The rules are simple: (1) Steal another team’s bandanna to get their points; (2) The team loses if the rider touches the ground; (3) If a team’s bandanna has been stolen, they can still continue playing to get back their points, provided the rider hasn’t touched the ground; (4) Quirks are allowed to be used to give teams an advantage but are not allowed to deliberately knock the other team’s rider off the horse.
Finally, don’t pay too much attention to the 10 million points. Yes, it was a way of demonstrating how much a pressure a top hero can feel, but with regards to the Kibasen, it was basically a MacGuffin — it’s what Deku, Bakugo, Todoroki, etc. wanted in this Kibasen but we, the audience, really don’t care about it since we already know that the top 4 teams would advance to the next round, regardless of who gets the 10 million.

On your comments about the point system. It’s broken like that intentionally. So that everyone will gun for the "top dog". And yeah, it really matches reality. Check out the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pareto_distribution. The guys on top have infinitely more than everyone else. That’s just how reality is.
