I think Builders could replace mainline games for me if it had as good a story, because I do prefer the action adventure open world gameplay over the turn-based rpg. DQXI has the presentation and the story, but not the gameplay for me.

agree with you 100 % that type of game is addictive wish they had much more like it as far as progression and rewards hopefully they come out with 3. if you enjoyed 2 you should try 1 but it’s much harder and is less involved then the 2nd.

DQB2 is totally addictive game. I never could play Minecraft for a long time, it was just too boring. But the DQB 2 got me. I wish there were more games like this.

I couldn’t believe the redundancy of the things you hear from NPCs. I literally did many tasks and wondered why it wasn’t checked off, until realizing you need to KEEP talking to these NPCs… Its so annoying to wonder wtf you did wrong only to find that all you needed to do was KEEP TALKING to the NPC… Blah blah ok I GET IT. I ALREADY GOT IT SEE?? See the THING??? DONE… Christ…

Irritated me a bit when you said that wasn’t a spoiler. Telling us what happens is a spoiler bc for all we knew maybe somehow he wouldnt end up as the bad guy and they’d find a way to turn him around. Now i dont have to wonder bc you told us flat out without warning

Getting a Switch soon! I know the DQ isn’t really necessary to play it but should I also get 1 to get an idea of this "elseworld" thing? I know it’s not really Splatoon, Pokemon, possibily Zelda etc where every game has it’s story or rules without really lots of prior knowledge

I just completely hate minecraft. Have to say it. But i bought a switch in 2018 and i downloaded all the demos i could find, and that included dragon quest builders 1. Against my initial thoughts, i tried it. And i finished the demo in the same day, needed to get the game as soon as humanely possible. Spent hundreds of hours on it. Then came the second one. Which i am addicted to. With 1070h and counting. I love the story even though the inner dialogs are slow as F. I like to turn people to my side and Against the CHURCH OF ARGON.

the padding is unreal. That 45 second delay in between "So and so joined your group" is maddening. Other than that though, I’m addicted to this game. Very harvest moon without cows… unless cows come later?

I think that many games could benefit from long and detailed tutorials, otherwise they can become too much time consuming for people with busy schedules

The game is excellent but the problem is after having played the first one through 3x the adjustment to the new less linear story was kinda a let down but as soon as you reach the first town the story becomes addictive and you get back the dragon quest builders vibe

I actually loved the characters (mostly just Malroth and Builder) and the story. Not because they were the best fantastic thing I’ve seen, far from it, I agree it’s quite bit childish but it had its charm and, at least for me, did a good job of endearing me and getting me attached to the whole progress. I breezed through third major island and to the ending precisely because I wanted something I lost back due to plot reasons.

I didn’t like this game at all, actually I kinda hated it. It tries to be an RPG too, but completely fails at it. No thanks, I fully enjoyed Witcher 3, which had even much more stuff to read, but the stories were actually interesting, plus the characters actually had a voice…. and expressions.

I started playing minecraft when I was 24, I’m 31 and still play and have thousands of hours in it. That being said DQB2 has taken away my minecraft time lol. It has a harvest moon/Rune Factory mixed with minecraft and it just works perfectly. Can’t wait for the next one.

It’s so weird the plot is so lackluster yet the addiction is so real like I spent every free minute on this game till I beat it. This game must explain it’s self! 🤣
