Honestly, I enjoyed season 2 more than season 1 when I first watched it. People call it bad, but it wasn’t that bad. Yes it deviates form the manga and there are some aspects that are missing that were present in season one, but it’s stil worth watching. That is if you haven’t read the manga, you’d enjoy season 2. However if you’d read the manga first, yeah then skip season 2. Imo you’d miss out on that first time watching the show continue. I still enjoyed that.

Episode 12 is one hell of an episode, put me on edge the whole time and I felt the pain and agony from Kaneki. He’s my favorite character every anime/manga combined and as the story progresses his character goes through so much development.
Honestly you can watch S2 ! It’s very different than the manga and if we compare them both it’s not nearly as good, but if you watch S2 before reading the manga you might enjoy it.
I know I had watched the 2 seasons before reading the manga and I had enjoyed the anime a lot. The only reason I don’t like S2 is because it’s too different from the manga which is better.
As for S3 you can also watch it, it’s pretty good but you might be very very confused since they skip a lot of important things.
Maybe S3 was made considering we had already read the manga so we knew the context and all.

So yeah, if you decide to watch S2 I will watch your reaction and I’m sure some others will as well.

i would watch season 2 if i were you, but then just stop there, read the manga then season 3, then you wont be confused, because season 2 makes sense if you dont read the manga, which is why some people dont like it, because it strays

you should watch season 2, I really enjoyed it. Also, if I’m not mistaken, the ghouls do get stronger by eating other ghouls but most don’t do it because eating other ghouls (cannibalism) is frowned upon

the season 2/root A is good enough. It goes a completely different path, but they then try to return to the mangas story line in tokyo ghoul Re. The first season of Tokyo Ghoul Re is pretty good but is some what confusing they didn’t follow the manga but I still liked it. Part 2 of Re is terrible tho in my opinion.

If you like reading manga in general then go with the manga from here on out. Don’t even watch the other seasons.

Just don’t listen to others and do what u feel the best, s2 is really good, they just don’t like it because the anime follows another path, but it all ends the same in the end

Really hope this series gets a more faithful remake a la FMA Brotherhood or HxH 2011, it deserves it. This adaptation got butchered and it’s such a shame

Since your going to read the manga I suggest starting from the very beginning because season 1 does miss some stuff out

Season 2 Root A is more canon than people are willing to admit. Without giving any spoilers.
