It was so sad when you saw her eyes at the start of the movie lit up and throughout they faded away slowly until there was nothing left truly a heartfelt story

For someone who has seen poverty, I can tell that those rice balls made of mud, people may think it’s ridiculous but when a man is starving, he even thinks the moon is a round bread. Such is starvation! Never waste food people! There is always someone who sleeps hungry.

I lost it when Setsuko offers food made out of mud.Its her way of thanking and saying goodbye to Seita for all that he had done for her.. I will cherish the experience this film gave me for the rest of my life.

Grave of the Fireflies ranks up there with Schindler’s List of movies that must be seen but are also equally heartbreaking.

Let the whole world see this movie! So they know how important peace is. Make love not war! If you want to know who should stop the war? Just look at the mirror and you will know who.

People don’t realize the significance of the scene where she pricks her finger with the needle and licks her blood. She was so hungry, she felt she had to…to………🥺.
Also, the very very last scene where you see the buildings. They are showing how their spirits are still out there after years passing by.

26:34 Setsuko is doing rock scissors paper, towards the water, he reflection.
In order words she had no one to play with and the water reflection was her only way of making the most out of it.
You know I fucking hate everyone in this film besides Setsuko. The adults who said FUCK ALL to these siblings. The Old bitch who I get the impression she was trying her best in her own way (why she told Setsuko her parents are dead might be because Seita didn’t have the nerve) but that bitch didn’t stop the children leaving her house and Seita, I know you loved your sister so much but you seem like you had too much pride in sacrificing yourself or compromising. Her death is in your hands too. And you know that.
I mean after all, this film is all about regret of the director and how Cruelly abandoning JPN society can be. I know that society fact because I Live in Japan and see the ugly side of the people here.

I can’t finish this movie at one time. I stopped it first when their mother lie in the bed because I can handle. I can’t watch two little children lose their mother, cause I can’t too, that’s so sad.

There are a few things with the power to fundamentally & irrevocably change a human heart (often for the better.) One of them is seeing the whole of the earth from space.

    Another is watching this film.

I just finished watching this animation. The story is so sad and touching. I feel sadden deeply. It broke my heart to see the two siblings struggle. Wars are so cruel to humanity. At the end after the big brother died and reunited with his sister’s spirit, which makes me feel so sad seeing how lovely his little sister laying with her face on her brother’s lap. That scene has touched in my heart deeply. At least in the end, the two reunited and be together forever.
