Ever since I got my switch which is next to christmas day I’ve been waiting for this game to come like a mad man.
I’m like "Yo man I love playing zelda, wonder boy, mario, crash nsane, Smash brahs and all that but… When’s Dragon Quest 11 coming?" as each month went on after march the wait was just killing me inside man.
I was so happy and at the same time expected DQ Heroes to come to smash because Dragon Quest has had a big history of tying it’s games to hard marketing pushes with nintendo and final fantasy 12 being the more noteable while magazine articles explained why Dragon Quest was such a big deal and why us western RPG players should play it.

Ever since DQ8 came to the UK it was my first exposure to the series and I fucking still love that game to this day. I started to become the Dragon Quest guy while my friends were into Grandia and Shin Megami Tensei/Persona. So we’d always see each other’s games but not all of us go and buy these games because we were kids at the time so… not alot of money.

I played DQ9 from start to finish with my brother and I’ve played through the others on DS and phone.

I initially got into DQ w/ a demo they mailed me for VIII back in the day. I was hooked. Bought the game. Even managed to convince a couple of friends to buy it. I still love looking at VIII’s world to this day. Loved the art.

I feel like it took more than ‘a hit’ going onto the switch, I feel like my eyesight got worse watching the switch footage.

Play Draconian mode hard fights, otherwise the game is too easy, unless you skip a lot of the fights(so you are low leveled) and not buy armor.

My demo kept freezing occasionally whenever I wanted to skip the battle loading screen. Hopefully they’ll fix the final game. Already pre-order on Amazon, I need the physical copy in my hands.

This game is honestly like a true love letter to the fans that grew up playing traditional classic jrpgs from the early NES and SNES era’s with the added modern visual quality. Its a dream game come true that we been waiting ages to experience.

I don’t know how I will have the time to play all the games coming out on switch.
Great demo which shows developers can get a lot out of the switch if they take their time and understand the hardware.

My dad passed away last year when my playthrough of DQXI was still young. It’s a mixed bag for me. I appreciate the game for helping me get through such a tough time, but I also associate it with a severely broken heart.

Maybe one day I’ll give this version a shot, but for now it’s just too much. The music kills me.

I like the cinematic at the beginning but not a fan of this game at all. So far anyway like I put couple hours in the demo and didn’t enjoy the voice acting or the cutscenes, gameplay seemed simple n almost designed in a way that children could ease into the series, clearly traditional jrpg turn based but just not for me. I like the colors in the game but I think Zelda may have spoiled me in the graphics department, same with Zelda’s cutscenes that aspect I think I prob ruined for myself cause I just think why doesn’t this look like Zelda why not do cutscenes like the memories in Zelda, but this is it’s own thing and style. Maybe I’ll learn to like it, I’d like to have some kinda of convince me lol but then again it’s up to me really to enjoy it.

played the demo through to the caster town, and I hated it. It feels like a watered down, dollar store version of Ocarina of Time. It was a shameless rip off, and the combat is pure RNG with no explanation whatsoever of where magic comes from and how the characters can use it as easily as they can breath. If everyone was chucking fire balls, then I could just accept it as part of the world-structure. But that’s not the case, people have to learn it. Also, how can the town folk be totally vulnerable to even the weakest monsters. One slime could literally hop into town and slaughter the entire village the moment the hero and the dog wasn’t around according to the game’s logic. The story is so cliche and "exploration" is so contrived it constantly made my eyes roll; ‘oh have to add a shimmy ledge along the mountain path, -checks off a box, ‘oh better put a log across this river so the player can just press forward on the analogue stick to cross it anyway…, -checks off a box, etc. ad nauseum…

This game and its story and characters are trash. I’m not going to pretend it’s gud becuase ‘Dragon Quest’… THE EMPEROR HAS NO CLOTHES

This is a really stellar port, judging by the demo – there is a draconian option that lets you bump up the enemy difficulty.

played this on the ps4 as I love RPGS and JRPGS and I know I am in the minority but I was bored to tears with this game. People often tell tales of being in love with dragon quest and I am hoping people can tell me what it is they like? I love Final Fantasy in fact it is my favourite RPG series and I own so much merchandise so I was looking so forward to this but, my main drawn to RPGs especially JRPGS are good stories that feel unique and characters I enjoy and care for with a killer soundtrack. This game had a very cookie cutter story (I am assuming as I never finished it, I put 72 hours in and got about half way through the second half of the game) its a simple story told 100000000000 times over so that was a little disappointing, the characters where truly awesome however I loved the entire cast except Slyvando he annoyed the crap out of me he was like that over the top gay guy but dialed up to 10000 which is to be expected in a JRPG. The soundtrack in isolation as just a soundtrack is amazing but in the game its used awfully like the world theme never changing was a terrible decision. When the big defining moment half through the game comes it actually hit home and felt impactful which caught me by surprise as the rest of the game missed the emotional mark for me but that one hit, however to be thrown back into the open world with that upbeat music after a very dark moment in the game immediately ripped me out of it. I will go back and finish it at some point and I am hoping there is a new game plus so I can replay it faster and see if my opinion changes as this is a series I want to love I just did not find the fun in it I was hoping for. It did turn based combat very nice and as much as I love turn based combat in my RPGS it can’t carry a game, only characters and story can and the characters were great but the story is so bad that it makes it hard to feel connected to lovable characters. Someone tell me if there is something I have missed or if there if this series sounds like it isn’t for me based on what I said I look for in an RPG thanks and as always great content Rob

I have it on PC and to be honest it is a beautiful game on the PC with maxed out settings… That said the game already has a cartoonish style so even if there are a few hits here and there it most likely wont be noticeable. To be able to play this game on the move will be nice so I am going to get a copy for the Switch… if you are a total graphic nerd and just play on your main TV screen – get it for the PC. In any case the game is a masterpiece.

I have just started Dragonquest XI on my ps4 which so far it is not a bad game at all, but coming off of Persona 5 my expectations were shot way too high I think making hard to adjust to this game, but I do see why it is praised and beloved by many I just gotta get out of post Persona depression I guess lol

I played the PC version. This game is impossible with 2 cores and 4 threads like an i3 6100 at Heliodor. Had to upgrade to Ryzen 5 2600 to run it smoothly with a RX 480 8 GB. The game is amazing.

The fact that the added content isn’t being released to the PC version is pure bullshit. Fuck Nintendo and their obsession with their pathetic consoles. They have some good IP’s…but their consoles have been a joke for ages.

I am actually just starting the DQ series and love it so far. How ever i am deciding to play the SNES remakes for DQ I, II and III. The sprite graphical upgrades and script changes are just so much more refined. I really hope DQ XI Definitive comes out on the PS4 so sony fans can experience everything this game has to offer with all the added content. Also can’t wait for DQ XII since its already in development.
