I really, really appreciate Miyazaki pushing for the dub. For some reason my brain just cannot take in both subtitles and what’s happening on screen.

I grow up with the English dub and back then my English is bad enough that I couldn’t understand a single thing but the visual of the movie made the 7 year old me entertained without knowing the story 😂

Imagine a live action of this movie, not a crapy remake like the live action Disney movies. A proper remake.

107, what a strange odd number. Japanese and Chinese legends love the number 108. The number 107 feels like one missing.

Yeah this to me is the best Ghibli film. It’s a film for everyone of all ages. My biggest gripe with Spirited Away is the story is meant to connect with kids, mainly teens who’re accepting more responsibility in their life and therefore need to mature. I watched spirited away when I already passed that point of my life, so I just couldn’t connect to the film as much as others have. This film however, I enjoyed instantly.

I’ve seen both the american and japanese dubs. The japanese one had subtitles. I’m a Ghibli fan. Both dubs are just as great, but the japanese one is something very few others can parallel.

My mom made the mistake of getting this for me when I was like 6 because she didn’t know cartoons could be violent. I’m so glad that she did as it left a deep and lasting impact on me, affected my morals, maturity, philosophy, as any profound piece of art should!

Running down the IMDB credentials of the cast is super lazy, especially considering there are two separate casts and you just rinsed and repeated the concept. Boo.

Did you guys know that kaya was actually the bride-to-be for ashitaka, the reason why kaya calls ashitaka "brother" is because their village is small and the Emishi people had a tradition which is when the girls got married and they would have to give their husbands their crystal daggers as seen in the movie. Therefore San and ashitaka didnt get together in the end.
