I can see your point but some animes lose their awesomeness if they become too westernised, and some dubs are painful to listen to, especially when they pronounce the names wrong, but in other cases the dubs work so well when they are dubbed for example Dragonball series and depending on the company that dub them

After watching Reboot, .hack, and Code Lyoko, I was so hooked into watching Sword Art Online.

And even if it could’ve been a lot better, I still liked it for what it was.

What? This is the best dub heard in a while especially with quality work when people like Mike McFarland are around pushing the agenda for better dub and emotion.

I prefer subs because over the years I discover more animes especially new ones and I rather watch them now then wait a year or 2 for the dubs. That being said I still like to rewatch the anime with the dub I like to see the anime again and I understand some parts hearing it in English then reading it. For SAO I really don’t like Kirito voice and didn’t like his voice in blue exorcist either but so far aside from him it’s a pretty good dub 4 episode in and I don’t have a problem expect Kirito

They already have I think they’re streaming Sword Art Online II which is now Gun Gale Online on Hulu, Crunchy roll, Funimation.com (if they have the license for it), any other media that broadcasts the show.

Well, I like my anime westernized. If you don’t like it then go watch the original then problem solved. I don’t find em painful to listen to. There were a few anime in English that were bad but their old animes anyways when they just started dubbing anime in the usa. I find most Japaneses voices to be ignoring maybe not for you but for me it is. I enjoy my anime in English end of story.

This made me laugh so hard, it’s like toonami portrays the anime as a joke.. Much of the original expressions are lost with a dub.

Got to see the first two episodes at anime boston with the dub before everyone that caught it on toonami. We all liked Asuna’s voice but Kirito left a little to be desired. The subbed version will always be best in our eyes. Can’t wait for the next season; GUN GALE ONLINE!!!

I just like listening it in English is what I prefer. They put emotion, so I disagree with that notion. Let’s agree to disagree then.
Me reading a manga/ or any book now that’s emotionless. I don’t put any emotion while I read. I just picture it in my head what I’m reading. Plain and simple.

YES! I do care and it does sounds good to me. FYI don’t have to watch it in English. If you don’t like it then that’s fine but don’t hate because there are people who do like it (like me). I don’t go around telling you what sucks or what you should listen to or not.

I know when there’s bad acting but from most anime I seen lately it’s been good. I’m not asking for perfection but something enjoyable. Sorrrrry for enjoying my anime in English.

Oh my god, couldn’t agree more. I think that dubs have to be done carefully, (they have to get good actors for it.) However, it’s a lot easier to get into a show if I’m not getting hung up on a weird inflection, or if there’s a poorly translated idiom. It ruins a show for me.

@CabooseJr Yeah, try telling that to Funimation and Netflix, both their websites and their apps. Besides this changes nothing, I still think Toonami should have shown reruns of the series, considering the fact that Sword Art Online II will one day be aired in English so they should air reruns when that time comes! End of discussion

So what happens in the event of an Internet outage? It didn’t state that the Nerve gear had any form of mobile communication technology (3G/4G) and the placement of the lines outside show that they sill have external Internet lines, so how would it handle during something like that?

Well, yeah, the anime would be better subbed. However .. As "Gabe5748" said – the English Dub Voice Actors don’t put, you could say, ANY kind of emotion into it. It’s like they are reading what they are given and that’s it. They should at least try to portray the emotion .. Like, in this trailer – where Kirito said "I will survive" while slaying a mob – the English voice actor said it like an everyday thing, like it’s nothing (like it doesn’t really matter/mean anything) … Like, really ?!

@CabooseJr. That’s funny, cause Symbiotic Titan technically finished its run due to it becoming discontinued and yet toonami shows episodes of the series. Plus I don’t think the Sword Art Online series has finished its run officially, and even if it did Toonami should at least be considerate enough to show reruns of the series and not stop showing it without a reason.

Really ? They put in emotion? I never really noticed that, you know. All the animes that I’ve seen dubbed – heard just a few where the voice actors put actual emotion in it, to make their characters look more real-life, so to speak. Because, like in SAO Dubbed version (this one), they didn’t put many emotions in their characters. Just read the script and that’s it. And, so, I guess as long as it’s in English (doesn’t matter how it sounds) it’s good/perfect for you? God ..

    September 25, 2018 @ 6:06 pm

I don’t. They both sound good to me. I still prefer English though. Most of the time not all tho the japanese voices in general make me cringe on the way they talk.
