I don’t know if the next show is already decided on but I feel like this is a good place to bring it up, is spice and wolf anywhere in the next show polls? because I feel like that is a show that has a lot of intrigue that suits this channels style and I think they’d enjoy it a lot

you also don’t see many reactions too it and I’m really interested in seeing one

This animation is a commemoration work of 50 years since the series of manga titled Ashita no Joe series.
The main characters of Ashita no Joe Yabuki Joe and the rival Rikiishi’s battle and its consequences are particularly famous.
I want you to see the anime version Ashita no Joe.
You should be able to understand why this ending of Megalo box is wonderful.

I personally loved how wholesome this ending was. I think it really drives home the fact that Joe knows how to change people for the better. Which is something that not enough people praise this show for doing.

I’m relatively excited for Violet Evergarden, I feel like you peaked with A Place Further Than The Universe when it came to shows that were made to punch you in the heart, but Violet Evergarden is still really good.

I REAAALLLY want them to react to a more psychological show tho. I feel like they’d eat up something like Paranoia Agent, Serial Experiments Lain, and to an extent, Kaiji.

Somebody said something really fitting about this show, that it was a realistic portrayal of the fate of a typical shonen protagonist. That living fast and hard, and throwing yourself from one grueling underdog fight to another might seem cool, but it’s super self destructive, and that kind of lifestyle doesn’t come with a long life expectancy.

Not sure if they saw Hajime no Ippo. I would recommend it if they didn’t.

I don’t think there will be a second season. for 1: its an annerversity series. so practically a one-off. Also, 2: There is no way Joe’s arc is just beginning. It ended. As the whole reason Joe fought was to show Yuri (and everyone else) the true way to box. And once Joe’s punches finally got to Yuri, it was done and over with. Joe did what he needed to be done. And the one person he wanted to fight, more than anyone else, Yuri, is now in a wheelchair. Joe lived his life in the spotlight and now its just rest and relaxation. I think the whole Yuki or what ever her name is doing another Megalo Tournament was just more in the sense she is gonna continue her dream/her father’s dream. She isn’t gonna let the lost of her best fighter stop her. It wasn’t really setting up for another season.

Can someone in the discord or anyone who know’s a guy inside tell em to pls watch kaiji it looks like a lot of ppl who watch em love it, including me as it is an amazing show and goes well with their tastes, like a amazing protagonist who isn’t generic good guy, table top games, amazing writing and many more. Plus with the tension and betrayal and all around twists would make for amazing entertaining reactions.

I liked this anime just ok, but the ending blue balled me pretty hard. Wish they went full on on the Ashita no Joe homage. But oh well, Ashita no Joe still exists. Either way, wish you guys would react to Hajime no Ippo some day. I’m sure you’ll love it based on what you liked here. The fights are absolutely amazing, characters are thoroughly developed, so on.

Actually I think the final punches, the frozen frame before the time skip… I think it’s shown subtle that Joe’s fist connected first. Yuri’s fist didn’t hit Joe’s face in the frozen frame.

Also, damn Yuri was a monster. The fact that he put up this much of a fight with the amount of pain and loss of stamina is insane.

Great show, but I was definitely a bit let down by how it all wrapped up, if I’m honest. The middle was the strongest part, and even the few episodes leading up to the end were really strong.

This and Violet Evergarden are, for me, not only the two best anime of the year but tied for tenth for my own personal top ten of all time. Glad to see you enjoyed 1/2, and to hear you will be watching the other soon. Honestly, both shows drew me to tears, Megalo Box was very light, but for VE prepare tissues!

The fact that they subverted expectations by not having Joe die at the end, diverging from the original Ashita no Joe, was pretty surprising. I was fully expecting Joe to have died at the end of this. Especially with that meta line "Born to die". Megalo Box was a semi-dystopian cyberpunk adaptation of Ashita no Joe, where the main character dies after the final fight, so Joe, who is an adaptation of that character, was literally created to die. But he defied that.
