The unsustainable damage is new to their world.
According to the Hero Association, it started escalating recently with the appearance of the Giant man.
Since then, monsters have been appearing more often. Aka the destruction was minimal and almost non existent until episode 1.
They even point out the massive struggle and cost just to rebuild portions of the city.
Also, there is a reason Saitama was never discovered. It was due to three reasons..
1: His scores were so absurd that nobody in the Association believed the reports.
2: Nobody believes it is possible for S class heroes to struggle so much and someone… ANYONE can be so strong that they can kill the monster in One Punch. Hence the Ocean King episode.
3: Wait for "King," the number 1(or 2) S class hero to show you why Saitama’s achievements mean nothing.

Have you ever heard of Megaton Man?
If you haven’t, then you should really check it out!
The most under-appreciated spoof superhero out there.
His Origin story alone is better than the entire first season of One Punch Man.
It’s sad to see such stories like Megaton Man get swept under the rug by something like One Punch Man.
The mere appearance of this guy alone is something else entirely!
What does Saitama have?
I don’t know, a bald head and is very generic in appearance.
Megaton Man has it all!

I do definitely like OPN in the way it’s written. I enjoy how it switches from a "nope, bored, don’t care style," right to an "I’m serious" style just to have it end immediately. Same goes for the art style in Saitama’s face.
As far as tropes go, I never really get tired of anything, which is unusual. I do understand that other people do, though.

The good thing is that Saitama is getting recognized. He took just two months to move from C class to A class in the webcomic, which is pretty fast according to one S class hero.

Eh I think your going a little overboard and this one. I usually rewatch great anime and this is kinda down the list. The whole thing is left unexplained and I 100% disagree that it’s not trying to be a comedy the whole thing is always a comedy from first episode to the last episode. Nothing’s ever really taken seriously and honestly the story is left wanting. The thing that got me through the show is the comical instances oh and when one punch man gets called out on his bullshit that is always nice.

Sakuga is what all anime should have. I’m really tired of action scenes where we see a pose with a blurring swipe indicating motion, and then suddenly people are hurt. You know, that typical frame by frame manga adaptation where there really is no showing of action. These close ups where we see two characters fighting each other but they are never in the same frame.

The hero association ranking system is not a con imo.
It is actually important in showing how heroes might operate in the real world.
There could be some sort of bureaucracy managing heroes. And not to mention appearance seem to matter more than results, pretty much a human flaw.
