This movie was a total embarrassment. It looks like a one of those rip-off Sci-Fi movies. Call it "The Reaper’s Journal." I hope this asshole director is never allowed to touch anime again.

it’s a crap movie in my opinion. judging it as a standalone it’s mildy entertaining and I give it a 5/10. as a anime adaptation it’s a 3 or 4/10. Light was so bad. he’s just a generic bullied punk who can’t talk to girls and gets picked on for being smart. The only great moment with him was the ending because it was actually something that resembled the anime. Mia wasn’t bad, she can at least think for herself in this version. L was decent until he started going psycho and acting reckless, something the real L would never do even if his closets friend died. Ryuk was good expect I don’t like the fact that he basically mentored light and told him to do the killings. Ryuk isn’t supposed to care. At least this will get people to watch the greatness that the anime was after witnessing this abomination

IMHO, the writers didn’t rewrite Missa’s character. The throw that character away and split Light Yagami’s character into 2, Light Turner and Mia. Thus the battle of two minds and two justices no longer exist. That is why Light tells Mia without knowing her yet wanna impress her like a school boy.

I already have bad experience throughout the movie but when that ferries wheel scene happen with that song in background, I’ve never facepalmed so hard as much as the Dragon Ball Evolution.

I agree with everything except L. I didn’t like the actor. I thought the acting was decent up until about half way through, but he began acting paranoid and odd and I felt like that wasnt really a good showing of L.

This movie was soooo entertaining! I understand a lot of the points you made but I still really liked the film. It’s no Godfather, and it’s not in any way, shape, or form the best adaptation ever but God was it enjoyable to watch! I didn’t really like the changes made to Light’s character but I really loved the concept of Mia being more evil than him. L’s actor was really good. He is L in this film, it’s like his character didn’t change at all, until the ending of course. The first act felt rushed. Not in terms of production value, but in structure. The second and third act are a lot better, even though they arguably have a lot more going on. There was so much exposition in the first act but I’m glad the rest of the film just has exposition scattered throughout. I think I enjoyed this film more than most other people lol Maybe on more viewings I’ll find things that really bug me but, even with everything bad included, I still really enjoyed this movie. There’s plenty of things in this film that are nonsensical but that doesn’t mean it isn’t entertaining.

I thought it was pretty dope, as someone who wants to go into the film industry and knows how difficult it is to make these movies, i don’t think the hate its getting needs to be there. I always look at every film with a positive view because of how much time it takes to put it together. Try and do it yourself and see how hard it is when you’ve got a shit ton of people giving it shit before it comes out, I’m not a fan of anime and i don’t plan on to but if your someone like me and just watches movies because you think it will be good don’t stop yourself from these people in the comments and reviewers because they are just fans of the anime series, i’m not targeting anyone this is my opinion and i’m not saying that people that talk shit about this movie don’t know anything. I just thought it was a good movie and that’s it.

Exactly my thoughts -w- It wasn’t bad as stand alone movie. It had it’s neat scenes. It’s funny how as L became more out of character, Light actually started to resemble his anime conterpart.
