Boruto Episode 97 Review discussing Shikadai, Shikamaru and Temari. Shikadai decides to quit being a ninja and Shikamaru the 7th Hokage Naruto advisor lets it happen, and he gets no respect for being head of Nara Clan. Temari has become a Typical housewife and has to train Shikadai in wind style jutsu now. Denk helps Shikadai somehow.

You’ve got to go to Japan and kick in the door and demand to be a writer. This writing is so trash its ridiculous. All they have to do is follow the naruto formula with new characters and tweak the development a bit. You should send them some script ideas. I bet they’re so lazy that they’ll use them and claim it was all their idea and they never got yours

And how the hell was shikadais wind so strong. He was basically temari chunin level with no practice and no fan and he kept pumping it out like a damn kamehameha. Not to mention it moved a giant metal turbine that had to be at least 50 ft away

OK ABD I just binged watch the episodes I missed and I don’t think this was complete trash. We can not complain that Shikadai is a carbon copy, if we do not expect him to be an individual character, and stop comparing him to Shikamaru xoxo. Here’s what I saw…
Shikadai is at the stage where he cracks under the pressure of family honor. He tries to take everything onto his shoulders and becomes obsessed with handling it on his own that he forgets the team, before he even realizes that he does not have to take on the burden of his family’s honor. I actually believed that Shikadai’s love for his mother and dad pressed him to prove that their family is not weak, his mum did not make a mistake, and his dad is the best thing ever. His actions seemed to be the result of him trying to get over the xenophobia of his clan members… or the political part of it anyway. He has a bit of his mother’s temper and his impatience seems to be all his own. I don’t remember Temari nor Shikamaru being so impatient with themselves. I got the impression that Shikadai neglected using wind style not because he didn’t think of it, but because of his clans prejudice (for lack of a better word at this time) So, in this episode, instead of proving he is a Nara through only shadow style, he’s going to make himself a legend Nara because of his epic parents….. with this logic I can even make a side episode where Shikadai is a little shunned in the Nara clan because he is "mixed". it could happen.
Now lets be fair ABD, the problem with the electrical system didn’t just pop up. Shikadai’s mistake put it there, which is why he went to check on it…. that said…
WHY IS DENKI THE ONLY ONE WATCHING THE PLANT?! AND WHEN SINCE DID WIND STYLE ONLY NEED A FANCY POSE?! COME OOOONNNNNN! well I don’t remember all wind users so, never mind. ;-p

Actually I didn’t hate this episode as much as you did. This episode was good because it shows that he is not another shikamaru and that even though he is super smart and mature there are things that rattle him. It was also neat to see inside the nara clan.

I think they asked fans, if they had something "good" to put in the Boruto anime.
Maybe they could have pulled a storyline, on a piece paper, mixed with others, out of a hat.
Or they could have rushed it, since they were running out of ideas, made one that "fit" into the anime.
Which is a bunch of bullarki.
Or…
Here is another theory, I probably thought up on the spot;
The company, who brings the anime to be viewed, by numbers of people, may have rushed it and thought,"meh, it’s good enough."
